I am trying to add to BaseCamp the Greenland Map that I downloaded from the GPSFileDepot here: https://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/834/downloadmac/ . I followed the directions here: https://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-to-load-.img-files-into-mapsource-with-mapsettoolkit/ and everything appeared to work as it should. I had issues with BaseCamp saying that the map had not been installed correctly but I was able to solve that by leaving the family ID blank and entering a made up product code. But when I open the map in Basecamp there is clearly an issue with the latitude and longitude not being rendered at the same scale because the map is very distorted. The other point to note is that there was no typ or txt file with the img file. I tried using the typ file that comes with the Mac version but I can't use that unless I enter a family ID and if I do that then I get the error saying that the map did not install correctly. Any advice on how to get this work? Thank you!
FORGET THE TUTORIAL ON HOW TO LOAD .IMG W/MAPSETTOOLKIT!
The gmap/gmapi is "univeral" for windows and mac so download the mac version https://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/download.php?map_id=834&mac=yes (https://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/download.php?map_id=834&mac=yes). This applies to my maps or any map author who offers their maps in the gmapi format, some have batch installers, some don't like mine, just follow the instructions below. Do this with Basecamp and/or Mapsource closed. There are a couple ways to view garmin img files in bascamp, but you need other software, etc Also delete what you have tried to do thus far as it may mess up basecamps "brain"
To view in Basecamp on Windows use the "Mac" version, after extracting and opening to mapaname.gmap, mapset can be placed in the Windows C:/ProgramData/Garmin/Maps folder (may need to un-hide and create)

Have you tried using MapSetToolkit to assign a proper Family ID and link the correct TYP file? Also, check if the IMG file is designed for BaseCamp and not just for a GPS device, as some maps lack proper projection data for desktop use.
