Title: How many .jnx (custom) files can I have in the Birdseye folder?
Post by: Stargazer57 on July 03, 2025, 12:57:16 AM
Hi, I'm using the gpsmap 65s already patched. I noticed that if I put more than one jnx file in the Birdseye folder then I'm not allowed to disable the file(s) I don't need. The device loads them altogheter.
What I want is the ability to disable selected files I don't need (like I do with kmz files in the Customaps folder). Is there a way to achieve this?
Thank you
Mike

AFAIK, Birdseye is an "all or nothing" proposition...

I thought so. Thanks

Will admit, I'm a little out of touch with the current version of Birdseye. I have had several subscriptions, the most recent was for a DriveTrack automotive unit. But Garmin has killed all of these older devices and no longer supports Birdseye on them. I think that happened about 4 years after I purchased. The newer Birdseye is directly downloaded on the device somehow (I guess) and it might be different.

However, there actually was a way to disable some of the Birdseye in the old version, but don't think it will help you. There were separate Birdseye products, like satellite imagery and topo maps. Those were separate subscriptions and showed up separately on the maps menu, so they could be turned on and off.

But you couldn't enable/disable individual .jnx files within each subscription.

Thanks Boyd for your detailed explanation. I guess I'll have to swap .jnx files as I go to use the map that I need.

I also tried to have a second BirdsEye folder on the sd card with another .jnx file, but the unit totally ignored that. Oh well ...
