Title: Installing error using mapinstall
Post by: marrbarr on August 18, 2009, 01:06:33 PM
I have just tried to load a map to the 2 GB SD chip I have in my card reader. I followed the tutorial on GPSFileDepot and everything worked fine until the end. I got a warning message which said...The following disk images failed to mount ...Image... gmapsupp.img    Reason... no mountable file systems

What did I do wrong? It is a topo map of Florida.

Thanks out there. I just bought a Garmin GPSmap76CSx but I haven't even had the card in the gps yet.

Thank you,
It turned out I had not correctly initialized the 2 GB card I had bought. Once I got that right everything seemed to flow nicely. I wish the Mapinstall program had told me where it thought it had successfully installed the maps I wanted to use. I spent a lot of time looking for a map that wasn't even on my hard drive or card.
