Title: Lower Case Names not displaying - any solution yet?
Post by: hntr on August 10, 2009, 10:36:34 PM
I am displaying some tiger data on my GPSr and some of the road names show up with the capital letter then a bunch of dots.  I have a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx

In my dictionary header I tried LBLcode=6 and 9, and have Codepage=1252

Is there any solution for this yet (besides manually entering all caps)?

I searched and only found some info on this thread, but it doesn't provide a definite answer to my question.

Man that really drove me crazy with cgpsmapper also. I never found a fix (although newer gps units like the Nuvi and Oregon don't have the problem).

However, there is another way to "fix" it. Mapwel has its own compiler and it works properly with lowercase on these "classic" Garmin units. You can feed your .mp files to it instead of cgpsmapper.
