Title: California trails
Post by: clarkaw on January 20, 2014, 11:24:36 AM
The topos are great, and i like the land use info, but I miss the trails that are on the Garmin 24k maps. Are they available somewhere?
Thanks

Have a look at this: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/53/

It is a transparent overlay that only contains the trails and POI's. So it's designed to work along with a topo map by adding the trails. When used on your GPS, you would just enable MyTrails and the Topo map at the same time. The only issue is that Garmin's computer software (Mapsource and Basecamp) will only allow you to view one map at a time. So you will need to install MyTrails on the GPS and view the results there instead of your computer.

Looks like there are some other trail maps here too: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/state/ca

You're the man!
I should have done my homework better. A while back I looked at those, but didn't recall seeing coverage for California.
They work like a charm.
I did look at the HuntingMaps, but it had a lo of info i didn't need, and it was $99...
Thanks again.
