Post by: mike7851 on July 11, 2013, 09:23:30 AM
will I be able to load maps to a nuvi 500?  I am looking for trails in WV on the Hatfield and McCoy system.

Absolutely. Depending on the amount of free space and the maps you want, you might need to add a microSD memory card though. But that should be no problem, a 4gb card only costs a few dollars these days.

Follow these tutorials in this order and you should be all set.

Maybe I am asking the wrong question.  I have the Topo US 100k map on my unit.  Is it possible to overlay the trials at Hatfield and McCoy on my maps?

This map? http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/296/ The information says it's a transparent map. That means you enable it at the same time as your topo and it should add the trails. I have never used it myself though.

Mike, I think you are referring to my map http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/500/ (http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/500/)

The one Boyd linked to is very old.

My map works great on the 500 and will overlay the Topo maps you can get on this site.
