Title: Renaming .img Files From Mapsource?
Post by: LTCSZ on March 05, 2013, 07:16:25 AM
Excuse the lack of knowledge, but I am new (like 2 weeks) into using my Garmin Oregon 550 and MapSource, so here goes: When I create a map in MapSource and send it to my micro SD card, the file is always named "gmapsupp.img" and it overwrites the existing file...Can I rename the newly created file somehow to prevent this from happening? (Give it a descriptive title that would allow me to keep it separate and re-use it in the unit?)Thanks for answering a new user's question...

Yes.  Rename it to somename.img.  The .img extension is critical.  Use letters and numerals.
