Title: Is the Colorado Topo 2011 Map a "BirdsEye" map?
Post by: pennwilds on July 17, 2012, 09:44:15 AM
I have a Garmin Rino 650.  Is the Colorado Topo 2011 map from the TOPO download section
a BirdsEye topo map?

No, there are no BirdsEye TOPO Maps on this site. It is a vector TOPO mapset and should work on any Garmin that displays vector TOPO maps.

The only way to get "Birdseye" on your GPS is to purchase a subscription from Garmin: http://www.garmin.com/us/maps/birdseye

However, there are some maps on this site that consist of aerial imagery and they should be compatible with you GPS. For example, here's one of mine: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/237/

Garmin calls these "custom maps" and you can display a full list of what is available on the site using the "search by map features" check box for "Garmin custom (imagery)" like this: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/search/garmincustom/

I have no idea if anything is available for your area though. If not, maybe you can learn how to make them yourself and post the results here for download. This will get you started: http://www.garmin.com/us/products/onthetrail/custommaps

As others have posted, it is a vector map.
