Title: Can't import topo to basecamp on my xp computer
Post by: colsey on April 28, 2012, 10:32:00 AM
I have downloaded an oregon topo map and can't import it to basecamp. I tried the happy trails download as well. When I go to import the file it will not open it. Nothing happens, not even an error message. Am I missing something here??
Any help appreciated...

Check out this tutorial:

You don't import maps into BaseCamp.  They need to be "installed".  Most maps from this site come with an installer that you need to run.

Are you using a PC or Mac?

thanks a bunch, problem was that basecamp was open during download, I have a dell PC with windows xp. Closed it and reopened it and they appeared. My trails is showing up along with the oregon topo. Is this OK or not? One more question, how do I upload these maps from basecamp to garmin devices once the device is connected to my PC?

This should tell you how:

However, you might spend a little time mousing around the Tutorials tab at the top of this page.  Lots of good stuff there.

Re. My Trails and Oregon Topo.  BaseCamp doesn't show two map products at a time,  to see them both you'll need to put them on your GPSr.  Also, if you are looking for Oregon trails you should probably check out this: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/27  .

Lovely place Oregon, especially the Columbia River Gorge.  Lost some skin on Dog Mountain (wrong side of the river) and thoroughly enjoyed Eagle Creek. :)
