Title: Input coordinates for use on new map
Post by: flyangler on January 05, 2012, 08:43:37 PM
Hi, I downloaded the Iowa Topo map.  I'd like to plug in coordinates using map datum WGS84 from my paper trout map and pinpoint a stream location on the Iowa Topo map.  For example, I'd like to use 43.396042/-91.589994
Just pressing Where To and then Coordinates on my DK20 didn't work. I then tapped Set Up, then Position Format. I do have Map Datum set to WGS 84. However, when I return to the Coordinates section, I'm unable to type in the coordinates in same format that are printed on my paper trout map.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Setting the Datum to WGS84 is only part of the solution.

You need to change the Position Format to: hdd.ddddd'

Hi and thanks. I would've done that, except I didn't have that option. Only options of that type are hddd.ddddd* and hddd*mm.mmm' and hddd*mm'ss.s", then long list of titles for other countries, etc. I couldn't find any other specific title for these coordinates.
going on a weekend trip now so will check back Monday.
