Title: G-Raster / Google Earth
Post by: MartinAS on October 08, 2011, 08:33:45 AM
Help for newbie please.

Read the GRaster page and downloaded. Started to follow the good instructions. Here is where I am stuck. I wanted to take an image from Google to give me a good natural layout on a part of a Georgia topo (from this site). The instructions call for the section of map from the Georgia topo to be imported into Google as a jpeg etc. How can I copy part of the Georgia map to use as a jpeg. gif etc? I opened the Georgia topo in baseCamp but see no way of copying a section.

Probably a simple answer, but not until one knows how.

thanks
Martin

I do not do that, but, try the snipping tool in W7 or a screen capture utility to produce a .jpg of a mapset being displayed in BaseCamp/MapSource.

Thanks

Talk about dumb. Did not even realise there was a snip tool.

Now on to the rest. Will report how I make out.

Thanks again
Martin

I haven't used this myself, but you might want to check it out as I believe it can create custom maps directly from Google imagery: http://googletrail.codeplex.com/
