Title: Topo maps load fails (Mapsource and Basecamp)
Post by: phlegmer on April 30, 2010, 09:30:06 AM
Greetings,

I have an Oregon 450 with the latest version of Mapsource and BaseCamp installed on a Win7 x64 system.  I have been able to install the City Navigator NT software within Mapsource just fine.  However, everytime I try to upload the Midwest topo map from GPSFileDepot to my unit, both Mapsource and BaseCamp error out when I'm about to send the maps to the device.

Mapsouce simply crashes.  BaseCamp does come up with the following error:

I've tried installing directly into the GPS itself and also to an SD card.  Both fail the same way.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Try posting to the appropriate support forum on Garmin's site. The software developers are there and have been very helpful, however if the problem is unique to a GPSFileDepot map they may not be willing to help: https://forums.garmin.com/index.php

Hell, the new version crashed trying to open City Select 6; so they broke backwards compatibility; on the other hand not sure whats up with that map not working.  Have you tried loading it without loading City Navigator at the same time?

I didn't go to Garmin yet.  Since I figured that this is not their maps, they wouldn't offer any help.  I surely can try.

Initially I tried to load the topo map both ways (mapsource and basecamp).  After it failed, I then tried the latest City Navigator maps with no problems.  I then tried the topo again sans success.

Thanks

Are you trying to install to the unit's internal memory or to a card?  If its internal memory, you could be running out of it.

I've tried both.

Thanks

Does any of the computer description above match the machine you are running it from?
Have you tried installing any other maps?  Might be a problem with this one.
