Post by: billmc40 on March 06, 2010, 05:36:16 AM
How do I make this map with all of its layers to put on my Oregon 400T?
http://mdcgis.mdc.mo.gov/website/table_rock/viewer.asp
This is a link to the map. This is just the first of several I want to do. Thanks for the help.

I get a map browser but an empty map window at that link. I don't see any way to "make" that map directly. You would need to download all the data that is used in the map, and there doesn't seem to be a download option (like some map browsers have).

Not really sure what you are trying to make, but it appears that the state offers some of its maps as geoPDF's: http://mdcgis.mdc.mo.gov/website/geopdf/viewer.htm

You should be able to convert those to custom maps for your Oregon (although I have never worked with them myself). See:
http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/onthetrail/custommaps

You may also find other data that can be downloaded from the state GIS website. Globalmapper is tool of choice for opening all kinds of map files. But this is often just the first step in making a map that is compatible with your GPS: http://globalmapper.com/

Looks to me that if you explore that web site it will give you lots of options to at the least load waypoints into your GPSr. You can download in pdf form with geospatial reference points, enlarge all arms, and print out various shots and levels. If you explore that site fully it may not provide exactly what you want but will give you lots to work with.
