You guys are right--only the trails show on My Trails.  I don't know why I thought I viewed My Trails overlaid with a Basemap before using either BaseCamp or MapSource.

I installed My Trails on my W7 laptop and it is as you say--no map.

The reason I wanted my PC Basemap back was because I thought that was the map which was displayed with My Trails.  I have CN installed which has much better accuracy.

Sorry for the post,
Ron

Thanks for the reply, I just edited the original post to say I had not installed My Trails yet on my Oregon 450.  But I'm pretty sure while looking at My Trails for MN & WI, either in MapSource and/or BaseCamp---there were roads displayed a few weeks ago.  Maybe not.

If I'm wrong---sorry to waste the bandwidth :)

Hi, It's been a few weeks since i have used My Trails, but I'm positive it showed features--rivers, roads etc.  Now there are none.  It shows the trails when zoomed in to 7mi, but again--no other features.

I have XP SP3. 2 things happened recently,
1. I installed a larger HDD and "cloned" the old drive to the new one.
2. I installed BaseCamp 3.2.0.1 beta.

I do not have PC Basemap in my map dropdown in BaseCamp or MapSource. I have all my other maps, and they all work fine except My Trails.

I did not have the PCBSMP2 in my C:\Program File\Garmin folder. I copied it there from my original HDD, but it did not make any difference. I have uninstalled MapSource 6.16.3 and deleted the MapSource files in the Garmin folder, and cleared the cache. I then installed 6.15.11 and 6.16.1 with no change. In neither case did the PCBSMP2 folder get installed.

The Global Map is present in both BaseCamps (3.06 ant the Beta) and in TrainingCenter--but those are called Global not PC Basemap.

I expect a registry entry is wrong, got screwed up in the cloning or ??

What do I need to do to get my PC Basemap back and hopefully roads and other features in My Trails?

Ron

Edit--Add: I have not installed My Trails on my O450 yet.

U have a Oregon 450 and it works well outdoors.  But, as i recall, the 62 screen is better in bright sunlight.  How are you going to "mount" the gps?  Or are you going to carry it in a pocket and pull it out when you want to view it?  If the latter, then tilting it so the sunlight doesn't wash out the disply would be no problem.

Go here for lots of info on the Oregon in particular and the Knowledge Base on the left side:
http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Home

And if your going to get one of the Garmin GPS listed above, get familiar with BaseCamp and MapSource.  Forums for those:

Hope this gets you started, Ron

Thanks for the replies.

I kinda thought that--I knew from previous attempts to display 1 maps on BC that I could not do it.  I thought maybe My Trails could do it tho.

There is no way I'm going to use my tiny O450 screen to try and find trails in WI & MN for a cycling vacation on 10mi resolution!!!  Summer would be over before i found them.  What is the limiting factor--My Trails or BC?

Is there any way I can connect my O450 to the puter and use MS or BC to "discover" trails with my CN in the "background?

Note: I found--In BC, if I Import one of my Tracks (a gpx file) with it's Waypoints, switch to My Trails, my Track and the Waypoints are also displayed.

any suggestions are welcome,
tia, Ron

Nebie to this forum, but I frequent WikiOregon and Garmin Basecamp forums.  It doesn't look like I'm stealing this thread since the OP got helped, and this is kinda the same subject--which might help him too--I hope.

I have had the Wisconsin Topo map installed, and i just installed My Trails--High Quality Trail & POI.   I'm using MapSource, but i have the same problem with BaseCamp.  The same thing happens with or without my Oregon 450 connected.

I center my City Nav, or the WI Topo map at Eau Claire (which has the Chippewa River Trail) I can not see any roads or other features when i select to My Trails.  I see (on 7 mile zoom) 4 trails in the area.

The My Trails page says "These are transparent trails and points maps. They are meant to show things City Navigator does not have.  These maps will show on top of whatever map you have loaded on your GPS."

What am i doing wrong???  I have not copied My Trails to my Oregon 450 (which I know how to do), so perhaps that is my problem--but i want to see what they look like in MS or BC first.  MAYBE I must copy the portions I want to my O450, and then I will see the Overlays---I hope it's that simple :)

1 other question, When i zoom out to 10 mi, the My Trails trails disappear.  Is there any way to keep them displayed out further--say to 20 or more so I can "discover" trails I know nothing about?  I have my MS & BC resolution set to Highest.

TIA, Ron
