Title: GPS tracks and tagged videos
Post by: Gsdtracker on September 10, 2011, 03:12:49 PM
Hi Guys,

Quick explanation of my "wish list".
I am presently putting down a track - maybe 500 metres long.
That track is archived as a GPX file.
I then attach the same GPS unit (Garmin GPSMap 62s) tothe harness of my German Shepherd Dog and she then follows the track that I have laid (several hours later).
Her track is also archived as a GPX file.
Both of the files are then used in GIS software and overlaid an aerial photograph.
The accuracy of the dog to track the original track is then possible (with ability to see tracking behaviour).
What I would like to do is using a headcam (or equivalent) - video the dog during her tracking.
Then link the video image to the GPS track.
As the track appears in the software - have the video image run in sync.

Not too much to ask is it?
Any Open source possibilitites out there.

Thanks for any leads,

GSDTracker

The normal geotag process links the time stamp of a still frame with the time of a track point.  BaseCamp does a pretty good job of this. You appear to require synchronizing a continuous series of frames.  Any way you could split the video into a series of frames with time stamps/frame?
