Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Re: Mytrails
September 21, 2014, 04:57:03 PM
I have the latest firmware, updated 2 months ago or so. Odd thing is My Trails is transparent over other maps from here and with the baseman. I notice that the OP also has the Garmin 24k Northeast map,  same as me. I wonder if the draw order of Garmin's 24k maps is different from the other maps here.

I have used that map and MyTrails with an eTrex 30 and moved it to the 64 when I upgraded in March.  No difficulties with any of this until I installed the latest version on My Trails. I'll look and see if I can download an earlier My Trails to check that out.

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Re: My Trails

I just downloaded the latest My Trails today 09/19/14 and it covers up the Garmin 24K Topo map. It works OK with the IL Topo map from here. But with all maps disabled except the Garmin 24K map and My Trails, the My Trails covers up the Garmin map. This just started after downloading the latest My Trails. My device is a GPSMAP 64S.

I have been using it with the Garmin 24K Topo map and My Trails for a good 6 months or so.  I have updated the My Trails a couple times since then. This is the first version to cause me trouble.

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Show on map?
August 01, 2014, 04:42:04 PM
I tried separating My Trails into tracks.  In order for the tracks to show on my Garmin map screen,  I have to go into Track Manager and turn on Show on Map for them one at a time. Kinda tedious. Is there no option to turn on that property before they are downloaded from BaseCamp to the device?

This might be affected by your Tracks archiving setting. By design, my Garmins have combined before and after tracks with a power down or battery change in between. I do exactly what the OP does, and have only once had a stray 'at home' point added to the track. Are you sure you're loading the saved track file and not the Current track file when you get home? The saved track file on both my eTrex 30 and 64s defaults to something like '2014-06-25 15:30'.

General Discussion / Re: installing GPX file

You might have to create a new List in BaseCamp to import your GPX into. Select the List and then File>Import should show in the menu.

Double and Triple thanks!  As a new Etrex 30 owner, I was stymied with the same thing.

I downloaded several maps from here, but I was ending up with only 3 maps showing on the Etrex at any one time; the included basemap, one topo map and MyTrails. Trying to replace the 'missing' maps would show the last one downloaded but it removed the previous maps. I contacted Garmin support and got a reply that it must be a problem with the maps themselves; please contact the supplier of the maps.  Duh. Well, actually, they were right. I found the answer from the source of the maps.  ;D

How easy to just download one at a time and rename the supp map file when you're done.  Thanks again!
