Title: Delorme GPS on a Laptop
Post by: heavyironn on November 20, 2009, 08:41:37 PM

Besides my Garmin, I use a Delorme GPS through a Laptop PC.  Are any of the site's topo map overlay files compatable with the Delorme program (Road Atlas 2009)?

Not with RoadAtlas, but you might be able to use this:
http://www.delorme.com/support/supporttemplate.aspx?id=319
With this to convert the NMEA to Garmin format:
http://franson.com/gpsgate/guide.asp?section=nRoute_200&platform=winxp
and this:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/agree.jsp?id=575
to use Garmin maps on your computer with an Earthmate GPS.

In any case, you can use the software from the first link to drive Acrobat with the geoPDF viewer and get USGS TOPOs in geopdf for free from the USGS site and have them fullscreen on your laptop driven by an Earthmate GPS.
