Hello,
I have a topo map of Mexico but it could only be opened on a PC. I did that (from a friends PC) and loaded it into my etrex. However, I have a Mac and Basecamp 4 Mac so even though I have it on my GPS I can't view it in Basecamp.
Is there a way to convert the map to something I can load into Basecamp?
Thanks
Where did you get this topo map? (aka is it legit for you to be sharing)... This is the converter you need: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3898
Actually you don't need a Windows machine to do the conversion anymore. This program runs right on your Mac: http://www.javawa.nl/mapconverter_en.html
Can't you just connect your GPSr to your Mac and have BaseCamp show the map as loaded from the GPSr? Happens with my Windows version all the time.
Also, do the apps that Boyd and Indrid suggested work on a map that's on a device?
No, you must have the original Windows installation disk to use either the Garmin or JaVaWa Mapconverter.
Haven't gotten to a PC or had a chance to try the converters yet but I bought the map from
mexicomaps.com
Which product did you get? The variation from that seller is huge. For example, Bicimapas sells topo maps through Garmin, and they come on a locked SD card.
I downloaded it. Here's some contact info. The guy's name is Mark Walker

That's a weird site. Looks like mostly paper maps and no obvious online storefront.
