I recently uploaded My Trails HQT & POI to Basecamp and transferred it to my nuvi 500. I was hoping this would show up on my custom PA TOPO map I have loaded on the unit but will not. It only shows on the CN map.

My Question: Is there a way to overlay the transparent map to the PA TOPO on BaseCamp?

General Discussion / CN Disappeared!
August 06, 2012, 12:29:28 PM
I was heading off to work this morning and like always I plugged in the nuvi 1300 to follow during my 100 mile commute. Well, it just kept shutting down I got frustrated with it and turned it off until I made it to work. When I turned it back on, I had a blank screen, I mean nothing! I was in Morgantown, WV and scrolled to view a larger area, I noticed I 68 and I 79 showed up on the screen but that was it. I checked the maps page and the only thing that was showing was the Norteast topo I downloaded from here, city navigator was totally gone! Would you have any idea what may have happened?

General Discussion / Hatfield McCoy tracks
January 23, 2010, 12:48:23 PM
I ran into an interesting situation yesterday. I was able to get a transparent trail set for the hatfield McCoy ATV trails and sent it to the WV topo on BaseCamp and it worked great! but then I tried the same thing in MapSource and the only thing that is shown is the trailhead waypoint marker with no tracks. Any ideas?

General Discussion / PA Hiking Trails
January 14, 2010, 04:46:49 PM

I found this site for downloading GPX files. for Pennsylvania hiking trails. I saw somewhere on this site somebody looking for trails to load. I am not sure if these can be sent to a gps or not.

I just loaded BaseCamp onto my computer and sent the PA planimetric and WV topo to it. It worked but it looks like just a bunch county lines and chopped up roads and does not look anything like a topo maps that I have on Mapsource. Is this the way it looks and changes when it is sent to the GPS or is something not right?

General Discussion / Garmins new 24k northeast topo
December 12, 2009, 05:40:27 AM
I was just on the garmin site this morning and noticed that they now have a northeast topo in 24k. For those of you who have garmins other 24k maps, are they any better than any of the free maps available from this site? I have the PA planimetric from here and it's great!

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / PA Planimetric
November 28, 2009, 09:10:48 AM
I did not want to clutter up the survey part but wanted to ask maps4gps about the PA Planimetric topo. Does this map show hiking and snowmobile trails? I loaded this map the other day and have not had chance to use it. From what I have seen on mapsource it looks very detailed.

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Topos on MapSource
November 25, 2009, 04:59:35 PM
Thanks to everyone who helped me with getting MapSource on my computer. I was able to load a map from this fantastic site and it worked great. Also I was able to load the tracks from The nuvi 500 to mapsource. Now, I was wondering about a background? The tracks are basically on a blank sheet. How can I get a topographic background on it or is there something else that is needed?

GPSr Units / Mapping on a nuvi 500
November 16, 2009, 07:13:08 PM

A few months ago I purchased a nuvi 500 for quad riding and was wondering if I could map out my own local trails that I ride on in southwestern and southcentral PA. Can anyone help me out?
