Title: marking grave sites, create track then place on satellite map
Post by: james131 on February 19, 2014, 01:47:43 PM
I am trying to make maps of multiple cemeteries  in which deceased local firefighters are interred. I sketched a map of the cemetery that I handle from google earth sat . I use the map to place flags for Memorial Day. It worked well because it was a late fall image - no leaf cover at the time. There are 4 other cemeteries that need to be mapped so the info can be passed on.
I can make tracks, way points and put the data on base camp. But a sat map with an over lay is very user friendly because of the local characteristics.
  Any guidance?
I use an oregon 550

Thanks, Firefighter Keleher

You might want to subscribe to Garmin Birdseye, or you might want to try  CustomMaps  (http://www.garmin.com/us/products/onthetrail/custommaps#fragment-1) (one word).  The link goes to Garmin's instruction pages.  You might also want to check the appropriate state topos to see if the cemetaries are well enough defined.
