Hello,
I am just getting started with the Garmin topo tutorial and have run into trouble processing the water data. I have gone through the contours and water sections without trouble until the "Export Shapefiles from PostGIS" section. When I run the commands, I get the error message shown in the attached screen shot. Any ideas?
I'm running GlobalMapper 10 on Windows 2000 using VMWare Fusion on a MacBook Pro.

I get exactly the same thing (you beat me to the post). Only difference is I am running Win2K natively.
I installed PostgreSQL 8.3 and PostGIS 1.3.3 for PostgreSQL 8.3
I'm guessing there are fields or values from the original shp files that pgsql2shp is not set up to handle.
Maybe if we can get some documentation on pgsql2shp we could help trouble shoot this.

I have found some very good documentation on PostGIS. Guess I should have looked around first. No guarantees I can figure this out, but I'm going to give it a try.

It says an error log was created. can you post that? It should be in the directory with pgsql2shp. That will really help narrow it down.
I have yet to run into any error like this which surprises me. What state are you working with?

I don't think this is what we need. Will try to figure out why there is no error file even though windows says it's creating one.

It is not in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin.
I am working with NHD data for Arizona.
There must be something wrong with my PostgreSQL setup or some other operator error. I got the same error processing my transportation data. I even tried using just Yavapai County instead of the entire state.
Regretably the log doesn't help me very much. Its all binary or something.

I am betting its Windows 2000 because I already made a topo map of Arizona and handled the water data for Yavapai county and all the others without a problem.
Why are you working with Arizona?
I would say the best bet is to email the discussion list; I've gotten instant answers from them.
