Title: mapsource and usatopo CDs
Post by: alabamatoy on February 04, 2012, 01:28:08 PM
On my Windows XP box, I was able to change the registry setting for where Mapsource looked for the USATopo sourc data from a CDROM drive to a directory on my hard drive.  This way I didnt have to tie up a CD drive with the disc.  I cant seem to find this setting within the registry on Win7.  Any suggestions?  I HATE having to dig out the CD every time I want to use mapsource.

It should be in the same spot in the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\MapSource then either families or product depending on the age of the product.

Thank you.  Its actually a wee bit different under Win7 64 bit which is what I have, but your path got me there regardless.
