Is anybody else having the units problem that occurred on the Maine Topo?
Yes, anyone; did it occur on the New Hampshire topo as well?
The NH topo map should be fine.
I will regenerate the ME one soon.
The units problem did occur for me.
Did it occur on the NH topo map as well? If so, Oz there is a bug in the process.
Yea, if it did occur; are we sure it occurred yet?
Here's a screenshot.
sure enough, you're correct.
Alright, lets solve this; things to check:
1. What program are you using to make the contours, global mapper?
2. If it is global mapper go to tools>configure> the vertical options tab; make sure elevation display/export units is statute (ft). I would bet that is the main problem
3. Remake just the broken quad and check it.
The other thing is to try out my beta topo process program.
Thanks. I had this set wrong. I will redo NH now. This is a small one to do.
yea, took me forever to find that in Arizona.
I use your "topo process" for the contours in NH and also for the contours in the southern section of ME. I used GM to combine all the data?
I am trying to fix the NH map, but now I am getting an "Unknown Area Type" in a couple of places in one of the .MP files. Since this is a very localized error I think it is safe to assume this might be a real error as opposed to a user error? I think those are related to federal land, possibly Indian reservation. I say that because of the associated name. Also the group after the "Unknown Area Type" is labeled "U.S. Naval Survival Escape and Evasion Training Facility". Sounds like Federal stuff to me?
Yea, definitely federal. can you attach the federal land you're using? Then I can see what its not handling.
Oz, did you look into the Unknown Area Type? I am now regenerating NH without those 3 areas. It seems the elevations are now OK (no need to bring supplemental oxygen to cross NH). I hope to have this one done this week-end.
Yea, I needed to know what those areas were.
Replied to your email now, generally that fe_2007_us_aiannh.shp needs to have MP_TYPE 0x0d.
I have uploaded a new version of the NH topo map. It fixes the elevation problem previously reported.
gonna fix Maine next?
Added the map to the list on the Maps page too on the right side that has all the US Topo coverage.

Yes, I will restart on this one. Maine gave me a lot of problems when I did it the first time.
If your NED data was pre-December, you may want to redownload some of it as portions of northern Maine were replaced with 'true 10m' versus the 'resample 30m' which was available previous to then. See: http://gisdata.usgs.net/website/usgs_gn_ned_dsi/viewer.htm
Ok. Thanks for the info.
Oops NH is missing elevation data in the Northern most quadrant! I will fix that and make a new map. In fact I am making now a combined map NH/VT/MA because I already have most of the data on my computer.
I"m happy for a combined map as I'm sure others will be.
