Title: Basecamp Not Recognizing Trails
Post by: twhitehead on December 23, 2015, 12:36:41 PM
Very excited to have just found this site.  I can download maps and access them from Basecamp without any issue.  However, when I try to make a new route from waypoints, it only draws straight lines between waypoints and does not follow the contour of the trails and so does not give mileage/elevation/graphs/etc.  Works fine on my previously loaded (purchased) maps.  Is this feature not available with these downloads or what am I missing?  Thanks for any guidance.

Maps must be constructed in a special way to support routing. Otherwise, you get straight lines between points as you describe. Almost none of the maps on this site are routable. Unless a map states that it is routable, you should assume that it is not.

Go here and check the "routable" box under "search by map features" http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/

You will see there are 10 maps listed out of the thousands on this site....
