Most maps on this site will work on some Garmin Nuvis.
Caveats:
Most maps on this site are not routable, so you won't be able to use them for turn by turn directions.
Many Nuvis render maps differently from Garmin handheld GPSRs, so they may not look as they were intended to.

Some "less traveled" suggestions. In Zion the West Rim Trail: Go left at Scout Lookout instead of right where you found the German and French kids.  In Capitol Reef, just about any trail, but especially nice are: Grand Wash, Capitol Gorge, Frying Pan, and Golden Throne.

IMO Utah is the prettiest of the desert states, and the one I currently live in.  All of our National Parks are spectacular, but Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion are my favorites.

I suggest a few maps I've made depending on how much download time you have available. Largest listed first, smallest, last.  All maps are routable with topo and land cover. Routable features are based on OSM data.  The large maps include data from all smaller maps.

Keep in mind that while your GPSr will probably get you to the trail head, it may not be much use in canyons.  Mine have disappointed me regularly in Zion and the Grand Canyon.

And while you're here, be sure to spend some time outside in the dark.  Our skies are spectacular as well.

Camera's a Canon 60Da DSLR (a 60D modded by Canon for astrophotography). Lens is a 4" refractor scope on a guided equatorial mount.  The DSLR's attached where the eyepiece would go.  The photo is a stack of 9 frames each at 7 sec, 15 sec, 30 sec, 60 sec, 120 sec, 240 sec, 480 sec, and 960 sec.  7 sec was needed for the brightest parts, 960 sec for the dimmest perimeter nebulosity.  Software is Pixinsight  which is at least as steep a learning curve as GM.

It ain't mapping, but it's what you do when you live someplace you can see the Milky Way most every dark night.  That's the Great Orion Nebula, by the way.  The bright part's a binocular object under urban skies.

Been a while since I've contributed, but my latest GM version is 14.  I share Boyd's lack of enthusiasm for new complex software.  Right now I'm getting into astrophotography and it's complicated enough.

The way I deal with it on all my handhelds is:

Clear the tracklog at the start of the trip.
Save the tracklog at the end of the trip.
Clear the tracklog again.

That will give you separate tracklogs named by date stamp.

Garmin Inland Waterways, maybe?  Bathymetric data (underwater contours) is really hard to come by, unless you've got a canoe and the gear to get it yourself.

One of the few routable maps on this site just happens to cover a lot of your area of interest.  It's big though.

I have the same problem as reply #5. On BaseCamp 4.4.6 Mac, only the Mytrails routes plus mine display, against a tan background, no topo or map details at all. Hawaii map

BaseCamp will only show one map product at a time.  You need to view a "transparent" map on a GPSr to see it overlayed on a topo.

I loaded mytrails map, but i have a few trails missing in my area. I have my rides recorded and uploaded from my Garmin 810 which track these missing trails.

Does anyone know how i can update the mytrails map to show these new missing trails?

Send them to the map author and ask him to add them.

Sometimes it works.  Sometimes it doesn't. It may look OK in BaseCamp, but not transfer to a GPSr.   IIRC when I simply rebuilt individual tiles rather than the whole mapset and tried to send it to my GPSr I'd get an error message that read something like: "Insufficient space to transfer your 2KB file, you only have 2GB available on your GPSr."  I don't recall the specific wording, but that's the gist.

I don't know. What kept me away from a GPS with a touch screen is having to take off your gloves to use the GPS.

I'm not much of a fan of touchscreens on GPSrs myself, but I use "digital" gloves (with one of those little patches on the index finger) on both my OR and Nuvi and they work with gloves on.  I use Head digital running gloves on the mouse pad of my laptop when I'm doing astrophotography at night.  They work fine below 0F.

but my map is completely blank. Then only thing that shows up is the "Map created by cGPSMapper" logo.

What levels are you using? Sounds like they're wrong.  GPSfiledepot has excellent tutorials.  I suggest you try them.
