GPSr Units / Waypoint management-Oregon
October 05, 2010, 06:55:13 AM
How are wayponits saved? When I hook my Oregon 450T up to my computer I don't see any file that would be specific to the waypoints that I have saved on the unit. When I transfer to mapsource I see the waypoints on the mapsource map, however, I don't see any corresponding GPX file for the waypoint. I also have no problem sending the waypoints from mapsource to the 400T. Where and how are these files stored? Thanks.

How come when I download tracks & waypoints to my GPSr they due not overwrite the previous version....they instead duplicate the track or waypoint out on the GPSr. For example if I have a track named 'abcd' on my GPSr and then edit and re-download I'll now have 2 "abcd" tracks on my GPSr.

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Filetypes
August 25, 2010, 11:05:32 AM
What is the difference between a GPX vs. A GPD fie type? I noticed that in Mapsource I can save as either file type and it doesn't seem tp affect the data, but when I'm working in expert GPS it only allows me to work with GPX files.

Also, I know tracks are saved as GPX, what are routes saved as? when I hook my GPSr up to the computer I can easily identify my tracks, but not my routes. Yet when I download from Mapsource the file I send to the GPSr (which I saved as a GPX file) contains Tracks, waypoints & routes how is this possible?

Thanks for the help.

Anyone use Expert GPS? Is it worth the money? Thanks.

How do I view and work on multiple tracks at once in mapsource? It seems I can only view 1 track at a time. I would like to view multiple tracks at once and be able to edit & combine them. Thanks.

I would like to map some trails in my area on my GPS (oregon 400T). I would then like to take those tracks and put them on a map as trails. I would like to be able to then print out the map so I have a paper copy and then download the map with the trails back to my GPS device with the 'trails" on the map. How do I do this??? Seems like it should be easy, but I can't figure it out.

Help - I downloaded a map to my Oregon 400t - I can see the gmapsupp.IMG file in the internal memory when I hook up to the computer, but I can't see the map to select on the device. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,

I have a garmin 400T I just downloaded a 24k topo. When I enable the map on the device and disable the 100k pre-loaded map, when I go back to the map screen it is blank. How do I view my newly downloaded map? What happens if I enable both maps? do they show-up on top of each other? Thanks.
