Yep, it has a .prj file in the set. I can import it in Mapedit and global mapper but I just don't know what to do with it.

NO, it just said a problem occured that cause to stop working.

I have downloaded serveral of the free programs and have downloaded the Shapefile for the Hiking trails in GA. Now I'm clueless on how to creat a Transparent Overlay so I can see the trails over the Topo map I downloaded from GPSFileDepot. Any help would be appreciated. I'm a to NEWBE AND HAVE NO CLUE.

I was able to pull the shapefile in to MapEdit but doing the set up when I import and have no idea how to tell what the correct numbers are so its located in the right position. Does it do that automatically?

It will transfer maps. I have the same gps and did it with GA. But I used the Micro Card to save to vs. transfering to gps. Might give that a try. I didn't try the other way.

I'm following the steps in the tutorial and when I get to step 14 that says "Check export contours directly to package files", when I click the check box the program stops working and said a problem had caused it to stop working. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I finally figured it out and got all the Arcgid files for Georgia downloaded yesterday. I plan to use Global Mapper to process. I trying to do the tuturial so I'm learning as I go. I know there is a Topo already done, I just wanted to learn. Looks like a New Hobby.......

I've been trying to download the Dem files for GA today. I guess the server has been having problems. I finally got one downloaded off the USGA site from the Tutorial. What do I transfer to the DEM folder? I keep getting a message each time do I want to replace certain files. I'm a newb so thats prolly a dumb question. Thanks for the help.
