Title: Point custom type
Post by: Perry on June 02, 2009, 09:38:08 PM
I'm having problems with custom typing points.  When I try to open MapSource I get a message that there is a problem with this GARMIN application...please e-mail Garmin;  then MapSource closes.

MapSource is version 6.13.7
cGPSmapper: I've tried 96 and 98c free version
Using MapsetToolkit v1.62 beta.

The problem custom type is:

[_point]
Type=0x08
string1=0x04,my point
xmp="4 4 2 1"
"x   c #000000"
"a   c #ff0000"
"aaaa"
"axxa"
"axxa"
"aaaa"
[end]

I copied the Mountain Range sample point from CustomTypesDemo.txt which I think came with an earlier version of cGPSmapper and it works fine.

What am I missing?  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Perry

Thanks for the suggestion, but using Type and SubType did not make any difference for me.  If you get a point to display in Mapsource with the custom type, then it seems like there must be something else that's making the difference for me.

Well, I found my problem.  A dumb typo: xmp instead of xpm. :-[

Oh, that would have been a problem. What are you using to make the TYP's? A text editor?

Yes, a text editor.

Might want to give Mapwel a look, the demo version will allow you to edit and export custom TYP's as .txt that then can be edited however. Doesn't cost anything to give it a look.
