Map Making Support / Re: NSIS installer and Windows 8

64 bit.

I think the problem is that Windows 8 really, really discourages users from running an .exe file downloaded from the internet.

OK, thanks!  That's what I was using but when I try to back out the actual text command nothing shows up when I decompile the TYP created with ati TYP compiler.

I guess I'll just have to be satisfied not knowing.
Thanks

So I made him a typ file that told the GPS not to label the contour lines.

What is the command in the typ file that tells the GPS not to label the contour lines?

Thanks in advance

Map Making Support / Re: TBD issue?

Maybe Garmin changed something in their newest versions of MapSource 6.15.9 to 6.15.11

I know they changed their locking mechanism in these versions.  Did you notice this error start to occur after you updated your MapSource?

You need to set up the registry exactly as the .reg file is set up when it is output from cpreview
#9
yes, it's working now

If I can remember it was simply a problem with the Windows registry.

I think most people handled this when Garmin updated MapSource a while back.

Which Mapsource update did this issue arise on.  6.14 to 6.15 or a different one?

Is it common for the error to occur if using MapSource version 4 or 5

i am using CGPS v0098

If you mean the map you made that your friend is having trouble with, download the latest version cGPSMapper and MapSetToolkit, then recompile your map.mp file and send that off to your friend.

yes, I am still referring to a map I created and will be for the remainder of this topic

Have you guys ran into this problem often (where you have to update the maps using the newest version of CGPS for the map to work with a new version of MapSource?)

Sounds like they need to update their Maps/MapSource.

How would one update their Maps for a new version of MapSource?
