Title: Windows 7 64bit install problem
Post by: Danoman on May 20, 2012, 01:42:44 PM
I just built a new PC with Windows 7/64bit and installed Basecamp.
I downloaded my own map and it did not show up in Basecamp.

I had to install a 32 bit installer mapset first to get it to take my map.

maps4gps points this out in the descriptions of his maps.
I had to update my map description also.  (hope you don't mind maps4gps I "cut and pasted your instructions into my description)

" There is an issue with the 64-bit installer used in the PC version of this mapset. If this is the first mapset you are installing on a Windows 7 64 bit PC, you will need to FIRST install a mapset which used a 32-bit installer.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem yet?
I think this has been happening for quite some time now.

Dan

Yes, it has been fixed - Oz has created a new installer here: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tools/map_install.zip

This is a long thread that gets a little confusing, but it may be of interest as it also has a new installer from Oz that uses Garmin's gmap format, and I have an inno installer script that allows you to upload a single (universal) version that can install on both Mac's and PC's: http://forums.gpsfiledepot.com/index.php/topic,2383.0.html

Thanks Boyd,

I want to get back into map making now that I have a better PC.

I quess the first thing to do is make an updated installer for my current map.
