Title: Java Uploader
Post by: BobT on February 16, 2014, 04:41:34 PM
I have just tried to upload a new Taylor Park Trails Map and when I first got the Java Uploader I got an error message something like "Your security setting will not allow an out of date Java to run"  I have updated my Java (I think it was already up to date) and now the Uploader App does not run.  Any ideas?  This is a Windows 8 computer with 8.1.

Attached are screenshots of the error I am getting.

I just tried uploading a file on another computer and the Applet gave me the same error of Java being out of date.  I had just updated the version of Java on my other computer so that is not the problem.  It appears to be on the gpsfiledepot, though I am not sure since this is over my head.  This other computer is running Windows 7.

Thanks,

I have just tried it from my work computer and I got the "Uploader" window but the upload immediately failed.  Could be my company firewall.  Running Windows 7.

I just used an old PC at home running XP and I was able to upload new maps.

I will look for an updated version; Java is a total pain with their security (because it is inherently insecure).

You may also want to uninstall all versions of Java from your machine and reinstall the latest version only. See this page:

There is a new uploader now (announcement (http://forums.gpsfiledepot.com/index.php/topic,3642.0.html)).  It is based on HTML5 if you have an up to date browser otherwise it will fall back to flash or silverlight.

Please let me know if you run into any issues.  I tested it with files between 1mb and ~300mb.
