Title: Newbie is Confused About Getting Maps into Garmin Legend hcx
Post by: w6rlf on October 02, 2009, 11:35:27 AM
I've downloaded a map (Topo Michigan), but as indicated in one of the tutorials it is all img files in a folder. The tutorial suggests that if I used the setup wizard I should be able to get it directly into mapsource; but the wizard simply asked me what directory I wanted for the folder.

Do I need to use Mapset toolkit and cgsmapper, or did I need to do something differently in the setup wizard?

Thanks,

Paul

I re-read the tutorial and think I've got it. I downloaded the two programs and am proceeding, but got the "family id exist" message. I searched on this, but am not sure I understand the solution. Can someone help?

Thanks,

Paul

OK, That mapset includes an installer and doesn't need MapSetToolkit or cGPSMapper to install/use it, should be good to go from the download. Those other tutorials are for other uses.
