Title: What am I doing wrong?
Post by: joerunner on November 25, 2010, 11:03:28 AM
I'm new here and obviously not very literate when it comes to this sort of thing.  Apparently downloading maps is not an idiot proof operation.

I have mapsource installed on my pc.  I downloaded oregon_topo which gave me the option to install and I did.  I accepted all the default download locations along with the default file names.   It placed a file called mt77_or in my program files.  Map source does not give me an option to open this map.  What am I supposed to do?

Hopefully somebody with a little more geek sense can help out.  Thanks in advance.

I closed mapsource then reopened and the file appeared.  Mystery solved I hope.

I would guess that when MapSource 'opens' it checks the registry for available mapsets - any mapset installed while it is open will not be found until the next time MapSource starts.

Always close MapSource before installing a new mapset!
