Title: Oregon 300 or 400t if they are only $5 difference in price?
Post by: doghouse on March 26, 2010, 06:03:26 PM
I am wondering which unit would be better? I know they are the same unit except the 400t comes with pre loaded topo map of the US. So my question is ...is it worth it to get the topo pre loaded and not be able to have that map in MapSource for trip/route planning? Or are the custom maps here a better way to go with the 300 model?  thanks in advance

for $5 get the 400t; then you'll have that map AND can still install all the custom maps.

For $5 more, I would suggest the 400t.  That unit has 4Gb built in memory with about 3Gb used for the built in maps; the 300 only has 1Gb with about 50Mb used for the built in world map.

If you removed (save to computer if you want to restore) the built-in topo, you should have nearly 4Gb of usable internal space and can still add a 4Gb removable storage card.
