I need to get the state of North Carolina onto the eTrex 30x.
Can someone give me a step by step using a Windows 10 64bit machine?
We will be paddling the swamps of east North Carolina next week and I'd like a bit
of an insurance plan.

Install Basecamp on your computer first

Spend a few minutes looking at the map on your computer to make sure everything looks ok. Now connect your GPS to the computer and follow this tutorial to send all or part of the map to the GPS

You may need to enable the map on the GPS. See this tutorial, however it is old and may be a bit different from the eTrex 30x. Unfortunately, all the tutorials here are a little old and you will notice some differences in Garmin's current software.

If this is all just too much for you, or if you don't like the free map, you could just forget it and purchase Garmin's Southeast topo. Garmin's maps have a few advantages over the free maps here. They can provide turn by turn directions from one point to another for example. The free map above cannot do that, it will only show your position on the screen. Garmin will also provide all the "hand-holding" that you need if you call them. They will not help you with the free maps from GPSFileDepot though.
