General Discussion / Trails
February 04, 2012, 01:07:56 PM
I just downloaded the transparent My Trails and it shows up in BC but not on top of a map as in Maine Topo or NE Topo. All I see are lines(trails)which are kind of usless w/out a map. What do I do to show these trails as a overlay?

Were you zoom-in to the 500 ft level on the GPSr?

Are you in marine mode?

Thank you very much for your reply. I had Marine Mode turned on,turned it off and there are the streams and they are BLUE by golly.

I downloaded NewEngland Topo and Maine Topo to BaseCamp then sent NE Topo to my 78S. The small streams that show in BC do not show up on the 78S. Lakes and ponds show up as white on the 78S but no sm. streams show at all. Anyone have any idea whats up w/this.?

Using The Maps/Garmin Software / Track Edit
December 30, 2010, 03:18:45 PM
Posted this over on the Garmin Base Camp forum,no response as yet and not surprized. I cannot find a way to edit track properties other than color.I transf. a track from my gpsr to base camp and got this 1/8th inch wide default line.Is that it, is this what tracks are suppose to look like. A dashed thinner line type would be nice but appearently not possible in Base Camp. Anyone know if you can edit anything in Base Camp.

Can I import a track from Google Earth to the NE Topo in Base camp,if so how.?

So you can have more than one map on the 78s correct? This comment in step #9 is referencing some older units?

I just got a 78s.Have not loaded anything on it as yet.It sounds like if I had two or three different hunting areas(maps) on a sd card in the device, loaded a new map of a different area, all my maps would (except) the newest one would be gone. This is not at all good and dosn't even sound right.Surely you can have more than "one" map on this device.

In the tutorial step #9 for Base Camp it says all maps will be erased. Dose that mean all previously loaded maps will be erased as it says or am I missing somthing. Why would I want to do that?

Soon to be a 78s owner, formerly a PN-40 owner. What would be a good map set for general highway/POI data for New England and New York. I use a gps primarily for hunting and will use the best topo I can get here and in TopoFusion Pro but would also like to have up to date general road and poi info.
