Combine my trails map with Topo map--Etrex 30

I am a new Etrex 30 owner.  I've downloaded the NYTopo 11 map and my trails.  I would like to be able to view the trails on the topo map.  Can someone assist me with where to find instructions to do this?

You have to send both to your gps and enable both to see both at the same time.
