GPS MapEdit Addressing Schema...?

Due to the lack of (my being able to find) documentation on some of the features of GPS MapEdit, I am  having a bit of an issue with addressing...

I hope this is understandable...

I am trying this test with two roads; I'll call the 'main' road 'Main Street' and the side road 'Side Street'.

"Main Street" is about a half mile long, and addressing at the start is at '100', and at the end it is '400'.  This is actually pretty close to the actual addressing scheme.

"Side Street" is a couple of hundred feet long; it's the side street that my condo is on.

Side street connects to Main street about 1/4 from the 'beginning' of Main Street.

That is the basic setup.

When I try to 'find' an address (and I'm trying '388 Main Street', near a poi that exists with that address) I would 'expect' the destination to be close to the END of main street (near the '400'), but the GPS is telling me the destination is located 'just before' you get to side street, which is way off.  Adding numerical adjustments do not seem to cure the problem, and just makes me more confused.

Is there a 'train of thought' that I should be following and am unaware of?

Has anyone tried this, and obtained what they think are correct results?

What could I be missing (other than a few brain cells...) ?

Cheers!

I think cgpsmapper set addressing form selected node to next node only. This looks different than in GPSMapEdit. You could try something like that:

Nod1=0,3,0
Nod2=1,2,0
Nod3=18,4,0
Numbers1=0,E,100,162,O,101,163,96913,96913,Tamuning,Guam~[0x1d]GU,USA~[0x1d]USA,Tamuning,Guam~[0x1d]GU,USA~[0x1d]USA
Numbers2=1,E,164,400,O,165,399,96913,96913,Tamuning,Guam~[0x1d]GU,USA~[0x1d]USA,Tamuning,Guam~[0x1d]GU,USA~[0x1d]USA

This is what I got in MapEdit after splitting and merging road at node 2.

SmugWimp

I got the same numbers too. They're still not what they're supposed to be, but it seems the data I got from our local public works is not entirely 'accurate'.  Unfortunately out here nothing is computerized, and apparently the numbering scheme is kind of haphazard.  I'm not sure what can be done about this...

Do you know of any 'standard' for street numbering? I don't think we adhere to one, but I'm sure we'll have to eventually.

And you are correct in that we have to 'split numbers' from node to node, at least those nodes that connect to another street. That's going to be a LOT of nodes, lol!

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!! :)

Cheers!

You can report incompatibility between MapEdit and cgpsmapper to author of MapEdit, he could add automatic correction for addresses when there are intermediate nodes.

I don't think you will find any general rules for addressing. You can set multiple "Numbers" lines into single road, if you have precise data. Each can have different type of numbering.
