viewing topo maps on Dakota 20

The plan is to load topo maps from several states on my Dakota.  Using a Mac.  Went through MapInstall and Basecamp. First I loaded several maps on SD card.  Most showed up on the Dakota, but the gmapsupp.img did not get bigger as I installed more maps.  Yesterday I tried installing each topo map (with multiple tiles) separately and then renaming the gmapsupp.img files after each install.  So new files are called ColoTopo.img etc.  Weird thing was that all *.img files are exact same size (692.4 MB).  Then looked on garmin and no new maps showed up.  Same old ones were in the list.  So far, I have only tried installing on the SD card.  Everything looks great in Basecamp and install appears to go off without a hitch.  Suggestions?

The concept of loading a map, then renaming it is correct. You obviously messed up somewhere else however and kept sending the same map file...
