Garmin Waypoint and Track Conversion to Maps

I have owned Garmin GPS units for over 10 years and presently use the 60CSx unit with MapSource.  This unit has a 1000 Waypoint limit.  Needless to say, I would like to be able to save more waypoints.

Has anyone figured out how to convert selected Waypoints to Points of Interest and be able to store them on the uSD card instead of internal memory in the Waypoint List?

Of course the next question would be "Is it possible to convert recorded Tracks to some other function that can be stored on the uSD card?"  Yes, I also have saved several hundred tracks and have hit an internal firmware limit on some of my saved files, where the tracks are no longer displayed on the GPS map.

I'm sure it could be done somehow, but without digging into it I'm not sure.  I guess my question is, do you really need all those waypoints and tracks on the device at the same time?  Wouldn't it be easier to just save them on your computer and load up the ones you want when you want them?
