can anyone tell me what program i can use to view img files?thanks

It depends on what you want to do.

If you are wanting to know how to view it in a program, install the mapset and use MapEource or BaseCamp?

I am really not sure what you are asking so if this does not answer your question, you need to clairify what you want to do.

The usual software would be MapSource on a windows pc. What .img file? One from this site? Going to need more information to help out.

Mod note: let's get some more details here without projecting every possible situation guys...

trying to transfer img files to mapsource and it sayes ibycusUSA2\img is not a valid mapsource file and could not be opened

That file as hosted here is an .exe file, so it should be self-installing.  Run the .exe file.

FYI - The data is 2007; Census did not release the 2008 data until late Nov. 2008.
