Newb maps and detail

I have downloaded the the South East USA from the editors choice.  I run the .exe file and the map is in mapsource.  But, the geographic detail is not there.  There's really not much detail at all.   Did I do something wrong?  How do you get the detail shown on the download description page? I thank that it should show up in Mapsource.  Yes NO?

Did you zoom in ?   ?

When it first displays, Mapsource uses a zoom level which will display an overview map of the entire mapset.  You need to zoom in to about the 800 foot level to see the full details.

Yes, maybe I am expecting too much.   Like shading and more.  like showing on the download page or custom maps.

The detail shown should show up.  are you sure you're on the SE topo map in MapSource and not just the basemap?

I selected SEUSA from the memu dropdown.   I must have did something wrong.
I guess I'll delete everything and start over.
