Also individual map files can't be larger than 2 GB due to the way FAT32 is designed.

There is a setting on the unit to go directly to mass storage mode or to ask. You need to change that setting.

I assume you also have the newest firmware as this was known problem with early firmware.

Check all folders for GPX files.

If not the Mac issue give it a master reset.  That should fix the issue.

Map Making Support / Re: Garmin .img maps
October 23, 2020, 06:10:45 AM
It is not reasonable to expect the KML file will be converted to IMG in one step.  It is different type of data. KML data is not "map" data.  You need to get it in to an editor, fix up the data and then convert to IMG in a way that displays nicely in a map format.

I use GPSMapedit to import and modify the files and then cgpsmapper to create the IMG file. It is fairly straightforward and flexible.

What sort of data are you trying to turn into a map?

Unfortunately, the Garmin software archive is gone again (or maybe never really came back?). Anyway, the old link no longer works for me: http://www.gawisp.com/perry/

http://gpsinformation.net/ is back online however.

I asked.  The basic story is they host on GoDaddy and their site was part of the security breach earlier this year.  While getting it back up GD noticed the large storage usage from the archive folder and told them they would need to move to a professional plan at 20 times the cost.

So, it still exists.  They just are not willing to pay huge money to host it.

Do you have more than two maps enabled ?
#13
It should work.
#14
That has nothing to do with this site. The map owners upload the files. You should tell the map creator.

The one Garmin sell is low resolution. I assume he is wanting to do a proper one.
