Specifically, looking for:

BWCA Campsites & Portages Map

Only available in PC...is there a way to convert it to MAC or get it in MAC format?

Thanks.

Boyd

You could have a friend with a PC download and install the map. Then you can convert it using JaVaWa mapconverter: http://www.javawa.nl/mapconverter_en.html

This program actually runs on the Mac, however the problem is that you must first run the map installer to extract the file and put it in the correct format. You will need a PC for that.

If you can't do this, you would need to contact the author of the map and ask if they can provide you a Mac version.

Thanks Boyd!

I have a laptop I keep around the house for using when Mac formats are not available, such as my wife's embroidery files.

I will see if I can figure out how to convert it and then move the file to my Mac.

Much appreciated!

Glad I could help. I would start by installing Basecamp on the Windows machine. Current version is here: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435 but on an older machine you might need the legacy version: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=7161

Most of the map downloads on this site result in an installer (.exe file) that you must run on the PC. It will place the map files in the correct place and create keys in the Windows registry. After installing the map, then run the mapconverter program in my link above. It should give you a file that you can move to your Mac on a flash drive or network.

I assume you have already installed Basecamp on the Mac? If so, then you should also have a program called Garmin MapManager. After copying the map to your Mac, just double-click it. That should launch MapManager and install the map in Basecamp.
