I’m trying to download USGS DEM data for Missouri (GeoTiff format) following the instructions on this web site using the links in the Missouri spreadsheet.  My intention is to create a Missouri Topo map.

When I use the GeoTiff links I only get 1 out of the 4 quads from the extract.cr.usgs.gov. website (tied this with 10 links and same result each time).  I’m assuming this is not the way it should go as the same link for the ArcGrid data has all 4 quads every time.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I think I just figured it out.

ArcGrid will always have 4 quads (most of the time) and GeoTiff works differently so it will usually have one file.

I pulled down New Hampshire today - 14 GeoTIFF files on the order of 260MB per file.  I've been waiting 2 1/2 hours for DEM2TOPO to load the first one so I can do the conversion.  It's not apparent that it's even attempting to load it and still indicates "Ready" in the lower left hand corner.  Do I need to pull the plug on this and drop $250 GlobalMapper?

There is another (easy) way to handle geotiff that I now use but haven't fully released the software I wrote to make it easy, see here:
